Hello neonauts! Apologies again for the radio silence lately — I’m working hard to get healthy enough to return full-force to Project Neon (there are still so many signs to photograph!), but in the mean time, I wanted to tell you about the Commodore Inn Sign Restoration Project. Matt Ames is working to restore the cool old sign you see above (he’s the one on the right) and reinstall it in a public place in Roanoke, Virginia. You can read all about it at the link above, which goes to his Kickstarter page, because restoring neon signs is expensive! I just made a pledge and you can, too, until Thursday November 15th.  Good luck, Matt!

A few other recent neon links of note recently:
I’ve talked about Alan Wolfson’s AMAZING artwork before, some of which features tiny, tiny neon signs, like this one.  So cool!
Neon master David Ablon was featured in a Core77 post with an annoying headline.
A great post from New York Neon about neon in the Hudson River Valley (and Part 1 is here). I’ve seen a lot of these signs, but not all of them. Time for a road trip?

About Project Neon

Follow a girl as she follows the glow in search of New York's best neon signs. Every week I'll visit another one of New York City's neon-clad establishments and post a photo & story, and tell you more about why I'm traipsing around this metropolis in the cold & dark to visit pharmacies, shoe repair stores, and bars with good neon signs to buy cough syrup, get my shoes repaired or have a drink.

Would you like to support Project Neon? You can Paypal a donation to heyprojectneon -at- gmail (no fees that way!) or:

Thank you! If you'd like to donate another way (Amazon Payments or check), just send me an email.
